Chattanooga, TN (August 2, 2005) -- Walden Security, one of the fastest growing security firms in the nation, announced today that it was placed on the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) Qualified Vendors List (QVL). After careful consideration of all evaluation factors, the TSA determined Walden Security meets the needs of the Government and is now eligible to compete to provide passenger and baggage screening services for the airports that are approved for the Screening Partnership Program (SPP).
Under the SPP, airports are allowed to hire approved private security companies to provide the security screening that in the past was handled by federal TSA screeners. After an extensive six month approval process that included a rigorous and thorough review of vendor proposals, Walden Security was selected from a list of over 100 security companies, including some of the largest firms in the nation.
"Walden Security is excited about this opportunity to compete for Airport Task Orders," said Michael S. Walden, president and CEO. "Our team of dedicated security professionals is looking forward to delivering the hightest level of security and customer service so that airline passengers can safely travel throughout the world."
To date, seven airports have applied to the Screening Partnership Program. San Francisco, CA; Kansas City, MO; Rochester, NY; Tupelo, MS; Jackson, WY; and Sioux Falls, SD already have screeners employed by qualified private companies and Elko Regional Airport in Nevada is awaiting approval.
"TSA is ready, willing and able to work with any airport that makes the local decision to apply to the program," said Kenneth Kasprisin, Acting Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for TSA.
As more and more of the nation's airports look to private security companies to handle baggage and passenger screening, Walden Security is poised to become a market leader in airport security screening services because of its extensive experience with other state and federal government agencies such as The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). For six years, Walden Security has had the privilege of providing security to the CDC, the principal agency in the United States government for protecting the health and safety of all Americans. This experience will prove to be valuable when tasked with helping secure our nation's airports.
