MORE THAN 30 YEARS AGO.

Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Michael S. Walden began his career in the military, where he served seven years in the U.S. Navy. When he returned home to join the Chattanooga Police Department as a law enforcement officer in the narcotics and patrol divisions, he met his wife Amy — at the time, a CPD dispatcher and a student at UTC.

In 1990, Michael and Amy started Metropolitan Security, which evolved into Walden Security. Now, decades later, Walden Security is the nation’s fourth-largest security company, with more than 8,500 employees. Every year since its inception, Walden Security has averaged double-digit annual growth, one customer at a time — rather than through mergers and acquisitions.

Our reputation is a direct result of the standards, values and principles that Michael and Amy have put in place. Day after day, year after year, our success is measured by our performance — but also by our relationships and the way we care for our clients and employees. As we continue to grow and evolve, we’ll always remain independent and family-owned: a company truly built from the ground up, with a single-minded commitment to the people we work with, and the people we serve.
