Event-Based Monitoring

August 14, 2025

Theft, trespassing, and vandalism—are these costly distractions draining time and resources from your business?

Elevate your business’s security program with video and audio monitoring, an excellent enhancement to deter threats. But is having to monitor video feeds 24/7 also draining resources instead of boosting safety?

Event-based monitoring is the perfect balance between safety and efficiency, ensuring your business is protected against threats 24/7 while not requiring 24/7 monitoring of feeds.

VIDEO FEEDS

Event-based monitoring requires a business or site to be enabled with visual and audio recording capability. Two main options are fixed cameras (mounted on walls or gates) or mobile feeds. Walden Security can assist with both options, seamlessly integrating with your current fixed camera system or installing fixed cameras, or deploying our Mobile Surveillance Units (MSUs).

Our MSUs feature high-resolution cameras, speakers, and police-style strobe lights located on top of a 20-foot mast. With Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity, all video feeds are securely stored and backed up.

MSUs are easily towed and a great option for securing sites such as parking lots with limited visibility and construction sites to protect equipment. They are also ideal for temporary needs, providing augmented security during events to complement fixed cameras. All video feeds are then monitored by our Central Technology Center (CTC), an enhanced surveillance and communication center staffed by trained operators who respond to threats or “events” in seconds.

PARAMETER SETTING

“Events” are any unwanted activity you want to be alerted about, such as trespassers, loiterers or vehicles entering your property after hours. Pending your desired events, parameters in the system are then set up. Whenever your unwanted event occurs, an alert is triggered, and our CTC operators are immediately notified to respond.

EVENT VIDEOS

Watch actual video footage of events that triggered alerts:

  • Attempted Theft – Attempted theft from a locked storage unit thwarted.
  • Suspicious Loitering – Two individuals loitering in a back alley, acting suspiciously.
  • Vandalism – A car driving by a building at night, throwing a rock to break a glass window, was recorded for law enforcement.
  • Thermal Imaging – In the event of poor lighting, thermal imaging can be used for events to track loitering and trespassing.
RESPONSE TO EVENTS

When an event occurs, our CTC operators follow a set protocol to resolve the threat. First, they immediately notify you and whoever at your business needs to be informed, following a pre-set notification hierarchy.

Secondly, they utilize lights and two-way speakers to de-escalate events and talk to trespassers, informing them they are being recorded and to cease and leave immediately.

Thirdly, they contact law enforcement as required and submit video footage as evidence.

Additionally, you have access to an app that allows you to view your live camera feed whenever you need to. This gives you the freedom and transparency to know what is happening on your property between and during events.
