Stories Behind SPOT Awards: Quarter III 2025

September 4, 2025

Our SPOT Program is a surprise, on-the-spot award given to an employee. It celebrates our employees' hard work, initiative, professionalism, leadership and excellent incident response. A SPOT Award is a small way to honor and recognize our employees who consistently exceed expectations and deliver outstanding professionalism. Read stories behind our recent SPOT Award Recipients from Quarter II:

Quarter III 2025

Paul Colon – Beckley, WV

While operating the X-Ray machine at screening, CSO Paul Colon detected a concealed knife in an individual's belongings.  The folding "credit card" style knife was not easily detectable and could have easily passed through if not for his diligence.

Matthew Ellis – Atlanta, GA

Read how Matthew Ellis’s client praises his work: “I just wanted to drop a quick note of praise of Matthew Ellis. Every Monday and Thursday, I have the privilege to be greeted with a smile and hello from my favorite security professional.  He is the consummate pro, demonstrating diligence on his job, but goes above and beyond with tending to our members and employees. You have a gem in Matthew.”

John Houck – Knoxville, TN

While working at a large-scale event at a convention center, Security Officer John Houck was approached by a parent who reported their child missing. He immediately began searching for the child and, after several minutes, located the child on a different level and safely returned the child to their parents.

Wayne McClure – Muskogee, OK

While on an exterior roving patrol, CSO Wayne McClure heard a female screaming for help. Upon arriving, he observed her performing CPR on an individual who was breathing but unresponsive. CSO McClure radioed for Emergency Medical Services to be dispatched and placed the individual in the recovery position until EMS arrived.
