November 22, 2021

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Walden Security was recently recertified as the nation’s largest woman-owned security company by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

This recertification marks the company’s 15-year anniversary with the distinction.

Amy Walden, Walden Security’s Chairman and CEO, and husband President Michael S. Walden established the company in 1990. The business has since grown to be the fifth-largest security company in North America, with more than 6,000 employees throughout the country.

Amy Walden also recently received the Woman of Distinction award. The award was presented by the Women of Distinction of Greater Chattanooga, an organization that honors women who exemplify excellence in leadership, civic involvement and volunteerism. Nominees are selected by the community.

In addition to Amy Walden’s executive leadership, she is an advocate for diversity and ongoing education. She volunteers with WBENC to guide women toward new business opportunities and provide them with training and networking events. The Waldens also co-established the Walden Security Employee Family Scholarship, which has awarded more than $200,000 to the children of Walden Security employees for higher education. Education and training for veterans is another important issue for Amy and Michael Walden.

They established a $1 million endowment for the University of Tennessee Veteran’s Entrepreneurship Program that helps veterans transfer their military skills to the civilian world and become successful entrepreneurs.
